Christmas Tree 2008

We went to cut down our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving, our ritual each year. This year we did do something different. We put it in the backyard in a bucket of water. The tree gets so dry by the time Christmas day comes that we thought this may help. And we'll decorate it this weekend. Buster took his first trip to the tree farm with us, but Wrigley wasn't able to. He is unfortunately very arthritic and it was too much for him that day. He just started some medication to ease his pain. I'm hoping it will help him. It's tough making decisions for this dog that I raised and love and hard figuring out how much to spend on him. We're trying to sort it out. Wrigley will be 10 next month. I hope to have him around a bit longer. Ok, got side tracked. As always, we had a great day cutting down the tree. We bundled up as if was winter in Chicago and were dripping in sweat by the time we were done. It was chilly for us at the farm, like 57 degrees or so. But when the sun hit us, we got warm fast. So Bob cut down the tree and we all said "TIMBER" and the tree slowly fell on Shane. He didn't get hurt and we all thought it was kinda funny. Shane posed for the 2nd photo with the tree on top of him.

Looking forward to trimming that tree soon.

It is always a fun family adventure cutting down the tree. Of course you always return to the first one you pick after walking around for 30 min, and you have to alway yell "Timber". Good call on the bucket of water, I have alway gotten a little grief for doing that, but it pays off. We hope to get our tree when Kevin is back next week. It is still a fun family adventure, even though the boys are big now. Enjoy your tree. Thanks for sharing.

Dude, Buster does look much bigger in that pic. And I'm so sorry to hear about Wrig. I know how tough those decisions can be.
